THE DESIGN BRIEF

To encourage the users (nurses) of a digital rounding app to use the tool more frequently and explore the functionality of the iOS app. We created a fun feature for different hospital teams and units to increase employee engagement and recognition.

The main goal of the feature is to excite new users in using the application, and also to open a communication line to further help nurses receive instant recognition. The category of badges are divided into performing patient rounds, recognition from team members or patients, and resolving urgent issues by using the rounding application.

After implementing, the badges were a great hit among the nurses. Hospitals created friendly competition between hospital units and floors, some are even tying the metrics captured by the badges into part of the employee performance evaluations.
